Namaqua - Aug 2016
A 10-day road trip from Cape Town to Namaqua National Park during flower season is a journey timed perfectly with nature’s most fleeting spectacle. Leaving the city behind, the route winds along the West Coast and through small towns and semi-desert landscapes that, for a few short weeks each year, explode into colour. Fields of wildflowers blanket the normally arid terrain in shades of orange, yellow, pink, and white, reaching their peak in Namaqua National Park where rolling hills become living carpets of blooms. The slow return journey allows time to savour quiet roads, coastal views, roadside farm stalls, and golden sunsets, turning the trip into more than a drive—it becomes a celebration of timing, patience, and the rare beauty of South Africa’s spring.
